On an atrociously wet day at Mill Road, Arundel sought revenge against AFC Walcountians in the Division 1 Cup quarter final, having previously suffered a comprehensive 1-5 defeat at home to the same opponents in the league.
The match started with high intensity despite the dreadful conditions, with Henry Breden almost opening the scoring for Arundel after four minutes, only to be thwarted by a defender after rounding the goalkeeper.
On nine-minutes Breden delivered an excellent ball from the left into the box, but Sam Pearson was unable to control and finish.
The game remained tightly contested, with both sides struggling to create clear chances on the increasingly waterlogged pitch.
On the half-hour mark, arundel skipper Steve Herbert was sent to the sin bin, for the home side.
The first half ended goalless, reflecting the tough, physical battle and lack of opportunities in the challenging weather.
During the half-time interval, with the rain continuing to fall heavily and the pitch deemed unplayable, the referee made the decision to abandon the match.
The score at the time of abandonment was Arundel 0 v 0 AFC Walcountians.
The fixture will need to be rearranged for a later date to be played at Mill Road.
Arundel’s next game is at home to Loxwood FC (Saturday 29th November)
