IT WAS INEFFITABLE that Peacehaven & Telscombe’s winning run had to come to an end, and it did on Saturday.
In the shadows of Arundel castle, Haven were beaten 2-1. The visitors had been on an unbeaten run of six league games without defeat and had won their previous five.
Arundel showed their intent early on when their top scorer 18 year-old Harry Russell opened the scoring with just six minutes played.
And just seven minutes later Lee Mottershead doubled the lead for the home side when he hit a fantastic strike.
Peacehaven struggled to get going early on but as the game wore on got more into their stride and Haven’s Josh Marshall was unlucky not to get on the score sheet just before half time.
Early in the second half teenager Joe Radley-Martin, who was making his first start of the season went close and defender Jack Phillips headed just over. Haven were starting to take the game to Arundel and Curt Ford went close on a couple of occasions.
The Peacehaven faithful who had made the journey and sang their way through the game had to wait until the 87th minute to see a Peacehaven goal which was scored by substitute Emanuel Okunja.
