Westfield were very quick to settle into the game and in doing so found themselves in front after 10 minutes. James Fernanades had produced two good saves in the same passage of play to keep out Westfield, however there was nothing he could do to keep out Aaron Watson’s close range effort, as the Arundel defence were slow to react and stood still looking for an off side decision that didn’t come.

On 14 minutes Westfield keeper Luke Badali nearly handed Arundel an equaliser, when he allowed the ball to slip under his foot in the 6 yard box, however Harry Russell was unable to punish the error with his effort from a very tight angle 7 yards out. Westfield created a number of chances, but were denied by a masterful goal keeping display from Fernandes. However, on 37 minutes Westfield did increased their lead when Max Blackmore and Aaron Watson combined well to break through the Arundel defence, Blackmore’s initial firmly hit shot from 14 yards shot was well saved, but the rebound eventually found its way to Aaron Watson to score from close range 0-2. Westfield’s Shaun Elliott nearly added a third just before the break, but Fernandes once again managed to superbly keep out his fierce effort from 20 yards. HT 0-2
Arundel were much better in possession in the second half, and Westfield found it harder to create clear goals scoring opportunities which was great to see from an Arundel perspective. For their efforts on 70 minutes Arundel gave themselves a lifeline, when a well delivered free-kick from Steve Herbert was headed home by Alex Biggs, from this point on, Arundel worked hard and retained the ball well but sadly failed to create any further clear scoring chances.
