Thoughts of how the season has gone as we are ¼ of the way through the league campaign.
This season has opened my eyes to how a young team of all fairly new player have pulled together and knitted as a team and mates on and off the pitch. We have had some great highs as a team during our cup run, but also some lows where we have just missed out of a few wins which could put us up near the top of the table. In summary I think the season is going very well and we are getting close to being where we need to be and deserve to be with the talent we have. Can’t wait to see what happens for the rest of the season when we get some consistency and a run going!
Thoughts on the new additions.
The new additions have been key this year in every way. Freshened up the look and dynamic of the team both on and off the pitch creating more competition and also cover across all positions which is a luxury we haven’t had at the club for a while! More importantly it is keeping the lads on their toes, (even me) as new lads have recently just joined and have made an instant impact!
Morale of the camp.
Very positive, we are a close-knit group and stick together both on and off the pitch which is fantastic. I think the boys are starting to realise the potential we could have if we sharpen up on our conduct on the pitch and keep the consistency going! Even on our lower days we stick together and pick ourselves up thanks to certain members of the team …!
Highlights so far
Our cup game against Chertsey Town at Mill Road was a massive high, our third game in and we just smashed it, as a team we were outstanding, absolute credit to all the boys that day who did the club proud.
Disappointments
It would sound like there has been more disappointments, but I think that’s me as a person always wanting the best! Our conduct and the amount of suspensions we have picked up has been disappointing and caused us a little bit of disjointedness so far which I think has affected us not converting the draws into wins! Also how we have performed in the local cups, I think as a team we are disappointed as we could have gone far or even all the way in one of these which would have been great for the club!
Hopes for the rest of the season
As our cup runs are over, all focus is on the league now, which is good in a way! I genuinely think if we all stick together and continue to perform and the mentality remains we will push up the table and aim for the top 6! I really hope we can keep all the boys together as both on and off the pitch we stick together as a family which I hope will help us drive on this season through whatever happens
Anything else you want to add.
I want to personally thank the gaffa for all his efforts this year on getting new faces into the club! A lot of work has gone in here which we all hope will pay off. Also thank you to the Chairman and all the committee for the ongoing support and commitment to the club with preparing the club at the start of the year and the ongoing maintenance and refurbishment at the club to help continue the great family feel of the club which we all love to play for! I will personally get onto the lads to try and reduce the amount of suspensions we are getting this year.
UP THE MULLETS!!
