Eastbourne United 4 v 0 Arundel 01/10/2016

Unfortunately this was an extremely lack lustre performance in which Arundel didn’t get going anywhere on the pitch with no outstanding contributions of any of the players.

Eastbourne United were deserving 4-0 winners, and took the lead on 16 minutes when poor defending allowed Danny Andrews room to fire in a good angled shot that was deflected into his own go by Nathan DaCosta. Eastbourne from this point had the upper hand and really should have increased their lead on 28 minutes when Jack Divall got in behind the Arundel defence far to easily to give himself a one on one with James Fernanades in the Arundel goal, but failed to work the keeper when shooting wide to the relief of the Arundel team. HT 1-0

The second half was again dominated by Eastbourne, but they didn’t really make their possession count until the 71st minute when Arundel stopped to appeal for an offside that wasn’t given, this allowed Danny Andrews to break clear who rounded James Fernandes before firing home to make it 2-0. Eastbourne made it 3-0 on 82 minutes when two or three Arundel defenders failed to clear there lines, and were punished with a well struck shot from substitute Tyler O’Callaghan. Once again in the closing stages poor closing down from the Arundel defence allowed Jack Divall to pick his spot when firing home passed the Fernandes from the edge of the area. FT 4-0
