Hi Everyone
There is undoubtedly a buzz around the club at the minute. We have had a solid if not spectacular start to the season. It’s a young side we have assembled at Arundel with new faces coming into the club and a new playing philosophy has been impressed on the players.
The response from the players has been very positive, but undoubtedly it is a work in progress and will take time.
I think that was exposed on Tuesday evening which culminated in our poorest performance of the season losing 3-1at home to Hassocks. We need to stay patient and focused as a group and club and I’m sure we will continue to develop and grow.
I hope that defeat has sharpened the minds of the squad and I expect a reaction on Saturday in our FA Cup Prelim tie at home to division higher opponents Herne Bay. We certainly need to.
The FA Cup lifts everyone, the history and nostalgure of the greatest Cup competition in the world and being part of it is very special. Of course the financial gains are really important for our club and most welcome.
I really hope we can generate a lot of local interest and the town of Arundel get down to support the lads on Saturday afternoon at Mill Road.
We are comfortable in our position as underdogs, not many people outside the club would fancy us getting a result on Saturday.
I had Herne Bay watched last week and the information fed back through a couple of good contacts of mine was how comfortable Herne Bay are in possession of the ball. They are a young side who play the right way.
The players here at Arundel and I, are really looking forward to the challenge on Saturday and will fully embrace it.
Enjoy the game.
Simon
