Deserved result against a hard working Arundel side

A welcome three points and a deserved result for Bridges, but a hard working Arundel side put up a good fight, bestowing there lowly league position.

From the kick off an attack from Arundel caught the Bridges defence by surprise and only a wayward shot from Shane Brazil stopped an early lead. However, on 6 minutes Shane Brazil danced through the Bridges defence and slotted home.

Nathan Crabb and Connor French missed good chances to make amends. On 34 minutes Crabb sped down the wing and crossed to French who shot at goal and Jensen Grant, who was on the line, eased the ball over. However, the referee gave offside until consulting with his assistant who had seen an Arundel player down on the line and still in play, so much to the protests of Arundel, the goal was rightly awarded.

After an attack from Arundel broke down in the Bridges goal area, an immediate attack resulted in Nathan Crabb putting Bridges in to the lead with 38 minutes on the clock.

The second half saw French was causing havoc to the Arundel defence. From a throw in, French received the ball swivelled and shot at goal and only a fine save from Arundel’s keeper, Dan Stevens, prevented Bridges increasing their lead.

However, in the 57th minute French did increase the lead with a great header direct from a corner.

Bridges then took their foot off the accelerator which allowed Arundel to get back in to the game and after Bridges keeper, Kieron Thorp, made a mess of a clearance and allowed Dion Jarvis to make the score 3-2 in the 70th minute

A flurry of substitutions took place, but to no avail and Bridges held on to the final whistle
